At Farm Advisory Services, Rodney Coward and Lisa Kelsall offer assistance and advice to all our farmers when dealing with the various government payment and environmental schemes.
They can cut out the jargon, review your farm plans and explain your options in good old plain English.
With a banking background, a knowledge of agriculture gained from many years involvement with the Young Farmers’ movement and Cartmel Agricultural Society, and having worked for the NFU for 20 years, Rodney is well used to dealing with the farming community and also with officialdom.
Rodney has recently appointed Lisa Giles to his department to deal with the growing demand for these services. Lisa recently qualified as a Chartered Rural Surveyor and has several years experience dealing with ELS and HLS schemes in Essex and will be based at our Lancaster office.
FAS will quickly review your farm business and explain your options to maximise the opportunities of ELS or HLS and where applicable the transition from ESA when the time comes aswell as the UELS scheme.
ENVIRONMENTAL SCHEMES
Farm Advisory Services was originally set up to provide assistance to those looking at the new Entry Level Stewardship scheme either as new claimants or because their ESA agreements were due to expire. With many now completed it is clear that farmers are finding that they do not need to alter their farming system by much, if at all, to meet the ELS requirements and gain a valuable payment, in most cases of £30 per hectare, to replace the money modulated from their Single Payment. Rodney is also on the DEFRA list of agents for completing the Farm Environmental Plan for those interested in the more involved Higher Level Stewardship scheme. Lisa will join the local list soon.
Rodney is undoubtedly one of the areas most respected and knowledgeable advisor for environmental schemes and he and Lisa offer a cost-effective service for our customers.

Single Farm Payment forms never seem to get any easier do they? We already assist several hundred clients complete and check their forms each year, deal with on-going issues relating to RPA errors and queries, ensure compliance etc. We are here to help with any issues you may have; yet another cost-effective service for a bit of piece of mind.
OTHER MATTERS
We have extended our services to include advice on cross-compliance, on-farm visits to help ensure that you are up-to-date with everything, small planning applications and advice, Waste Management Regulations, in fact, ask us anything, if we don't know the answer we will know someone who does.
