A reduced entry of prime lambs sold to a top price of 205p/kg for Texel x lambs from JJ & M Metcalfe & Sons purchased by Dunbia, Preston and Richard Prickett sold a smart pen of Texel lambs for £79 per head and these were purchased by Whittakers Butchers, Blackburn.
Demand for all types of lambs at Lancaster selling from 29kgs to 53kgs however buyers cautious of under finished lambs – lambs require a good finish to achieve the premium prices.
Cast sheep sold to £121 & £114 for Texel from E Hartley with Mules generally £65 to £70 and hill ewes £48-58.
Prime bulls sold to 195.5p/kg for Limousin x form T Potter & Son and £1318 for Limousin x from S & BM Lawrenson & Son. All bulls this week averaged 174p/kg or £1165 per head.
