Yet more fresh snow overnight could not deter any local farmers wanting to sell lambs at the last sale of the year at Kendal and a total of 1300 prime sheep were very much in demand by the trade. Standard weight lambs were the dearest trade for some time averaging 183.5p/kg. A top price of 200p/kg was achieved for Texel lambs from J & S Mitchell from Hole Beck. There were many pens of lambs making well over £80 per head with a top price on the day of £89 from R Packham & Sons, Docker Hall whose Texel lambs were purchased by Fairfield Meat Co. of Wrexham.
A small entry of prime sheep averaged £56.50 selling to £88 for Texel bred from JA Hunter Branckensghyll.
