A New View of Our Site

Aerial shot of site

Caption: The New Kendal Auction Site with A65 roundabout shown at bottom

Last Friday we arranged for some aerial shots of our contruction site.  We have added a few of the shots to our gallery and we are loving this new angle of the site.  If you look carefully at some of the shots you will see the first of the penning being installed and the formation of the sales rings can also be seen.

Roads and car parks are now being formed, internal walls are about 70% complete and the last of the contrete is due to be poured tomorrow (Tuesday) in what will form the large cafe/restaurant/seminar area and the 1818 Auctioneers salerooms and offices.  The contractors installing the penning are now making good progress with the pens.  From close up the dual-purpose livestock pens do look very impressive and are being installed with great precision.

Our three external units look equally impressive and the four tenants we have lined up for these will soon be able to take part-possession so that they can start their fit-outs in readiness for our grand opening in August.

We are now looking at promoting the few areas of space we have left to lease in the main building, which includes a butcher/farmshop area, some small kiosk/office spaces and a larger office suite.  More details will be available soon on this website or via our joint agents Walton Goodland.

More pictures of the site are promised and we will update soon.  Keep checking back.

New Auction Taking Shape

Gale force winds and snow still on the hills from the night before made this morning's visit to site a quick one.  We took our firldsman, Richard, on to site for his first official walk around and I think he was impressed with the progress and quality of what he saw.  (He will be more excited next week when the first of the pens arrive to be concreted in to place).  A visit to the penning contractor today by our directors confirmed the pens are nearly all completed and will look fantastic when in situ.  Progress has been made to design some splitting gates for these multi-use pens and fine detail is to be drawn up for the 7 metre and 5 metre rings to ensure they fit exactly our requirements.

We have sent out tender packs last week to interested parties for running the cafe/restaurant and function area of the new site and a meeting with the interior designer earlier this week has progressed some of our ideas in to a real concept to be worked on over the coming weeks.

Internal office walls are going up, concrete is being poured and the roof is due on site in 3 weeks, then first fix electrics can commence. We have worked on the electrical layout over the last few weeks to make sure we have power and data where we need it, and we need it in some unusual places!  The roads and car park areas are really coming along as can be seen from some of the photos and the effluent treatment and water plan will be arriving on site soon to be installed at the back of the site.  All in all the build in really progressing quickly now (no more snow, rain or frost please for at least the next few weeks) and we will be updating the photo gallery on a weekly basis to keep you all up to date.

New Kendal Auction - over half way there and still on schedule

Firstly, sorry for the lack of any recent photographs of the new site. New January and February pictures have now been added.

Anyone driving past the new auction from the A65 from Kirkby Lonsdale or from the Endmoor/Crooklands road cant help but have noticed the new auction building in the last few weeks. This week has seen the last of the steelwork frame being erected, completing the footprint of this 60,000+ foot building. The roof will arrive on site next and the main concrete slab can then be poured over the next few weeks. All the drains have been placed and the blockwork for the internal wall that separates the front 'office' half of the building from the rear 'penning' area has also started this week, just a short delay due to the sub-zero temperatures. The pre-cast concrete walls for the penning area will also be arriving any day now to form the walls of the back part of the building.

The scaffolding for Unit 3 (thats the first building you see when entering the new site on the right) has now come down as the cedar cladding to that unit has been completed, this will quickly be followed by Unit 2a/2b which is almost complete. It all looks really good. Unit 1 is due to be completed later in April after the concrete floor slab is poured (scheduled to happen after the main mart building). Once electricity has been connected, and compound areas levelled and prepared, these units will be almost ready for then tenants to come in and complete their fit-outs ensuring everyone is ready to start trading the moment the new mart opens (August 2012).

Its all systems go with finalising penning designs, loading/unloading dock improvements, kitchen designs and drainage.

The New Kendal Auction Latest - Main Mart Building Begins

Following the two-week Christmas Break, work has now finally commenced on the main mart building. The first steelwork is now up and beginning to give us a sense of how this fantastic building will look when finally complete. Despite some pretty wet and grim weather, our developer has made fantastic time and where they lost some time on the main building due to ground conditions, they have made up time with the three external letting units which are now well on their way to completion.

Within the next week or so (weather permitting) the final rendering and then cedar cladding will be put on at least two of the external units, the scaffolding will come down and the car park and compound areas of the units will be completed.

Also, in the next month to 6 weeks, the glass fenestration of the main mart building (thats the full-length glass frontage of the main building) will be delivered on site, the main car parks and roads will be laid out and our site will begin to finally resemble the vision we have seen only on architects plans in 2-D for the last twelve months.

The pictures in the January 2012 Gallery were taken up to 13 January and the build has come on leaps and bounds since then, as soon as we received the latest pictures we will upload these immediately so you can see how your new mart is taking shape.
