Lancaster Dairy Sale Monday 17th April 2017

Posted Monday, 17 April 2017, 4.02pm

The April Monthly Sale of Dairy Cattle had a catalogue entry of 28 with the pre-sale show judged by Thomas Ayrton of Thurnham, who we thank for his time and expertise. Winning the Championship Rosette today was the Inman Family of Strickland Hill with Witherslack Topsy Rose which later sold for £1500.

A mixed trade was endured due to the uncertainty of the milk price and a lot of foreign Heifers coming on the market at the moment for little money. The trade was topped by J & M Sanderson of Wesham selling to £1850 with Heifers from the same good home selling to £1780 and £1700.

Dairy Cows sold to a top of £1700 from J & M Sanderson of Wesham.

Heifers sold to a market average of £1568 with cows averaging £1533.
