Heifers to £2050 at June Dairy Sale

A good buzz in the dairy ring this morning, with the news of a penny increase from Meadow Foods before the weekend, buyers seemed to have that extra bit of confidence when buying replacements.
Trade was up for all classes, with the Champion, Lot 18, Pennine Poppy 1225 from Drinkall Bros, Over Wyresdale, calved just over 3 weeks and giving 34litres, this lasting black heifer went on to sell for the day’s top price of £2050 to Messers Walton, Wrea Green.

The Reserve Champion was awarded to J Burrow & Son, Preston, with Lot 6, Stardale Shamrock August, she stood first in the Halter Led Heifer class before taking the reserve champion ticket and later went on to sell for the second highest price of £1900, to A Bargh, Skelton.

On the whole heifers sold between £1500-£1750 with others around the £1300 mark to average £1565 for all forward. Cows were equally as good to sell, with two cows forward, both pedigree and realising £1300 from WJ & I France, Chipping and £1220 from Gibson and Berry.

Thanks to Brian Blezard for judging the presale show and to all sponsors over the year.
