Spring Lambs

The trade at Lancaster once again left all vendors well pleased with their trade. An entry of over 700 lambs forward sold to a market average of 185ppk. Better types of lambs continue to sell towards 200ppk topping at 208ppk from MJ & K Ayrton of Bambers Farm. Plenty pens of lambs selling mid to late seventies. The topped at £89 for heavy weight lambs from MJ & K Ayrton of Bambers Farm. A shortage of light weight lambs forward today with light weight lambs needed every week to fulfil the buyers requirements.

Prime Hoggs

Just a few hoggs forward today sold to a top of £90 or 209ppk from JA & VM Lamb of Conder Green with a market average of 131ppk.

Cast Sheep

Cast sheep still selling to a very strong trade at Lancaster, topping the sale was a Continental Ewe from DM Cardwell, Stalmine at £97 closely followed by a texel at £96 from E Hartley, Hornby. Mules good to sell, with the best £70 plus, topping at £78 from Andrea Gardner, Bay Horse. Lean sheep a better trade than the fat, with plainer sorts in the mid £60’s.

No prime cattle forward today but cattle required.
