May Bank Holiday Prime Stock & Breeding Sheep at Lancaster
Spring Lambs


A smaller entry of prime lambs forward with some buyers cautious of buying spring lambs with not able to slaughter today with it being the bank holiday. A market average of 180ppk with many companies being to think that as hogg numbers begin to dry up they will be in strong demand in the near future.


Prime Hoggs
A smaller entry of prime hoggs forward saw well fleshed hoggs short in supply and easily sold.


Cast Sheep
A mixed show of sheep forward, selling to a top of £76 for a Charollais ewe from RD Lambert. Mules to £68 from J Whewell, others to £62 from T Ayrton & Sons.
Breeding Sheep
The bank holiday may sale of spring lambs had a good entry and a good trade for the sheep forward. Correct mule ewes with strong lambs regularly around the fifty pound a life mark with broken mouthed ewes selling slightly less.
