NEW RECORDS AT NWA BELTEX SOCIETY SALE

The Annual Show & Sale of Pedigree Beltex Sheep on behalf of the Northern Beltex Club saw an entry, double that of last year, attract customers from throughout the Northern counties and Midlands with new sale records set in all sections.

The judging was conducted by local breeder Mark Jennings, Selside who awarded the Championship rosette to a shearling ram ‘Ivanhoe Watabootie’ from first time vendor JA Bailey, Bedale which later sold for the sale’s top price and new centre record for Beltex of 1300gns to RB Fitton of Bolton. The Reserve rosette was won by first prize Gimmer Shearling ‘Holmebeck Wren’ from P & A Moss, Barnard Castle which went on to sell at 500gns to S Hamilton-Guy, Lanark.

The 1000gn barrier was also achieved by ‘Wilson Wood Warrior’ from I Wilson & C Wood.
Other shearling rams sold at 750gns & 720gns twice.

A new centre record for females was achieved by the final lot of the sold ‘Holmebeck Winnie’, from P & A Moss, which sold for a final bid of 720gns from AJ Wood, Preston.

NWA MULTI BREED RAMS ACHIEVES £870 at EVENING SALE

The second Multi Breed Sale of Rams saw a top price of £870 for a Texel Ram Lamb from PK & R Woof, Stainton. Shearlings topped at £420 for a Texel from G Wilson, Selside with Suffolks at £400 from A Neale, Cockermouth. Charollais sold to £400 from Messrs Wales of Carlisle.
Ram Lambs also achieved £350 for Texels, £280 for Suffolks and £250 for Charollais.
