Lancaster May Diary Sale

The May dairy sale saw a lesser entry forward, comprising of 12 in-calf heifers, 6 fresh calves cows and heifers and a bull. The presale judge, Robin Boothman of Burnley awarded Lot 5, Whitecarr TC Madge, from T Cowell, Kirkham the Champion Rosette, which later went on to sell for the day’s top price of £1920. All 5 heifers sold to a respectable average of £1550. The reserve was awarded to Derick Cornthwaite with Garsby Ramos Kay 2, which achieved £1480.
A run of in-calf heifers from PJ Holt & Son, Breedy Butts farm sold to a top of £1100. Finishing the sale was a pedigree bull from Henry & Mark Cornthwaite of Garstang, Kirkwood Emirates, sired by Amighetti Bigflake and from three generations of EX Cows sold to a final call of £1120. A 100% clearance throughout with plenty of buyer’s ringside looking to purchase fresh calved heifers.
