Weekly Sale of Calves & Stirks

A ring full of buyers and a roaring trade for all types of calves.
Black and Whites the dearest trade yet with all black and white bull calves selling in excess of £60 except one with good rearing types easily passing the £100 mark. They topped at £160 from MH & AR Robinson of Homescales for a 28 days old with a market average of £105 achieved for Black and Whites. Dairy shorthorns from John Handley of School House sold to £235. British Blue bull calves sold to £420 from JN & DJ Bowes of Low Brundrigg. A consignment of Limouson calves from Langley Park Farms of Millom sold heifer calves to £380 with the majority selling easily in excess of £300.
An entry of stirks sold to £540 for suckler bred British Blue steers from HG Spensley & Son of Barnard Castle. Six month old British Blue bulls achieved £530 from RJ & KR Wilkinson of Levens.

Fortnightly Sale of Dairy Cattle

The sale of dairy cattle saw six active buyers at the ringside plus several leaving empty handed. A top price of £1400 was achieved for a 19 day calved heifer from E & K Bland. A consignment of Ayrshire heifers attracted keen interest selling to £1350, £1300 from H & JE Watson. A total clearance achieved an average of £1295.
