Weekly Sale of Prime Sheep

Prime Lambs reached 210p/kg for Beltex x from F & B Smith of Westhouse which were purchased by J Hadwin. Top price of the day was £96 per head for a pen of Suffolk x from TH Garnett & Son, Barrow-in-Furness and these were purchased by Michael Lomax. Closely following were P & TL Edmondson of Kirkby-in-Furness and J Hartley & Sons of Masongill both selling Continental lambs at £95 per head. Mules reached £70 / 164p/kg with most £23-£26 over weight.

The Cast Sheep Sale saw another large entry of 761 this week which continues to attract interest from new buyers. Strongest Continentals £85-94, Mules £55-£67 with Hill ewes £45-£60, plainer ewes £22-£34.
