Rams sell to £1120 at NWA J36

The inaugural ‘Lads Night Out’ Prize Show and Sale of breeding rams attracted a large crowd of both local and travelled buyers, from as far afield as Mid Wales and Somerset. The awarding of the Champion Rosette was made by local farmer, Mr Jack Wilson of Selside, who awarded it to the first prize Texel Shearling from Sue Cunliffe which later sold for £650 to the judge.

It was the reserve champion ram from J D & V Towers & Son, a 2 shear Beltex x Charollais that caught the eye of several noted prime lamb producers, which raced to a final bid of £1120.

First prize Suffolk shearling from J H Towers & Sons, sold to £920 with lambs to £420 for first prize winner from G Riley.

Beltex rams reached £500 for the best of a pen from K Armitstead with others at £440 from D Towers. Charollais sold to £400 from J Stott, who also sold lambs to £320.

NWA would like to thank all the judges for their time and expertise.
