SWALEDALE SHEEP SELL to £150 PER HEAD

A wonderful Autumn like morning set the scene for the Annual Prize Show & Sale of Swaledale Breeding Sheep. The pre-sale judging was in the very capable hands of Mr Stephen Park of Aughton, Nr Lancaster and after careful deliberation Stephen awarded the championship rosette to a pen of 3 crop ewes from Alan & Fiona Alderson, Barras Farm, Kirkby Stephen. A top price of £150 per head was achieved for a pen of fifteen 2 crop Swaledale ewes from E & A Wear. As the sale got underway a full ringside of buyers were present but a little more caution was certainly apparent when comparing the prices to those of other years. However, a very satisfactory trade was seen for all classes of sheep sold.
