NWA Kendal held it’s First Sale of Beef Breeding Cattle at J36 which attracted a crowd of buyers from throughout the northern counties.

A feature of this sale was the herd reductions on behalf of T H & D Cornthwaite, whose Limousin x cows with calves at foot sold to a top price of £1,720 x 2 with bullock calves at foot and £1,580 with heifer calves. A British Blue x cow from D Cockett with a very smart Limousin x heifer sold to £2,000.

A consignment of 3 from Barlow Brothers sold to a top price of £2,200 for a pedigree Simmental heifer, sired by the renowned ‘Tornado’, with a bull calf at foot, purchased by E Parker of Carnforth. A Limousin cow with bull calf made £2,120 from the same vendor.

Heifers with bull calves sold to £1,950 from J A Chapman and J S & S Atkinson, who sold others at £1,900.
