The final sale of 2013 took place at J36 Rural Auction Centre on New Year’s Eve. With 2000 prime sheep being put before a full ringside of buyers who ensured all classes of lambs were well sold and left an overall market average of 179.16p/kg.

Today also saw our Young Handlers prize show which saw 45 young handlers show some outstanding lambs. The judging was undertaken by Mr Andrew Dawson of Sedbergh who congratulated all the vendors on their showing skills and quality of lambs forward for show. After a tough task of judging the four classes, Andrew awarded the Championship Rosette to an outstanding Texel bred lamb shown by Chris Ladds of Benson Hall Farm, Kendal which went onto sell for £170 to Plumgarths Farm Shop and the Reserve ticket went to John Fishwick of Bank House Farm, Silverdale with a Cheviot x lamb selling to the judge for £125.
