NWA held its much anticipated monthly dairy sale which included the annual sale of Holstein bulls.

A catalogue containing many deep pedigree entries attracted a large number of purchasers throughout the North West, Scotland and Cheshire.

Judging this month was Mr Andrew Dennison (Denmire) who was presented with a very strong line up before him in each of the five classes. Championship was awarded to J & M Sanderson for the fourth consecutive sale who presented Sandcrest Linda 38 being freshly calved giving 30lts which later sold for top price of the day, £2,700, purchased by F Talbot & Co. Reserve at this sale was Starlight Baxter Gabrielle from Mr Robert Sanderson giving 38lts fresh into her second lactation selling for £2120 to TL Baldwin & Son. The quality of cattle forward was commented on throughout the sale, producing a very respectable market average of £1780.

In calf heifers sold to £1700 for a ARDS Reunion sired heifer from FW Herd & Son with young milk calves to £300 from T Cowell.

The annual show and sale of Holstein bulls attracted a large crowd of buyers all keen to purchase from this renowned sale. A 100% sale clearance was achieved with an average of £2003, peaking at £4600 for Stardale Cropper from J Burrow & Son. A son of O-BEE Manfred Justice from a dam line of 11 consecutive generations of VGLEX was purchased by ME Wannop and Son, Morecambe.

A very strong trade for bulls was seen throughout the sale with vendors very pleased with the sale values.
