Sandcrest achieve Third Championship at Lancaster

The monthly dairy sale saw new vendors and purchasers in attendance with catalogued entry of 51 cattle forward. Judging this month was conducted by Richard Lawrence, Lynholme who placed Sandcrest Debbie 5, from J & M Sanderson, Show Champion. This winning heifer created history by winning the Sandersons 3 consecutive championships at Lancaster. A big congratulations to them for this achievement which take some repeating.

Top price of the day was £2,500 paid for the Champion, purchased by S Forshaw & Sons. Reserve Champion was Tinehill Shogun Image from T C Alderson & Son, which sold for £2,350 to M E Wannop & Son.

8 Heifers this month sold over £1,900.

With uncertainty of the milk prices and the winter ahead, buyers were cautious. However a sale average of £1,710 shows the strong following the Lancaster cattle have.

Sale statistics:
Newly calved heifers to £2,500 average £1,710
Newly calved cows to £1,320 average £1,285
In calf heifers to £1,280.
