Ewes & Lambs
A wonderful show of Hoggs and Lambs were put before a full ringside of buyers and despite the unseasonal weather and lack of grass, all classes of breeding sheep were easily sold.
The pre-sale judging was in the very capable hands of Mr Graham Galbraith of Endmoor who had two strong classes of Texel x Hoggs with lambs at foot and Mule Hoggs with lambs at foot. The judge eventually awarded the championship rosette to a fantastic pen of Mule Hoggs with Suffolk lambs at foot from Messrs Sowerby of Terrys Farm, Appleby. These sold for £220 to Mr M Robinson of Grayrigg. The first prize pen of Texel x Hoggs from Messrs B & D Willison & Son of Levens sold for £190 to Messrs Atkinson of Endmoor.
Cumbria Young Farmers also held their annual Show and Sale of Sheep with Lambs, with the ewes presented to a high standard as all the profits from the sales were used to support the Young Farmers Clubs
