Posted Monday, 06 February 2012, 12.20pm

North West Auctions Kendal Mart hosted the Annual Spring Rough Diamonds Sale of Rough Fell In-Lamb Breeding Sheep & Gimmer Hoggs on Saturday.

An outstanding show of In-lamb shearlings were presented to judge Mike Dunning of Raisgill who gave Champion honours to a shearling (pictured above with Alan Watson) from D & HM Watson, Middleton Hall which went on to make an excellent price of £820. Reserve honours went to MP & A Capstick, High Lane for an in-lamb ewe selling for £580. Another highlight was the top price of the day for the second prize shearling bred by GH Capstick & Sons, Birkhaw. Bred from one of the favourite bloodlines on the farm, the shearling left the ring with a £900 sale price. Gimmer hoggs met a top price of £200 for the first prize hogg produced by D & HM Watson, Middleton Hall.

The event was very kindly sponsored by Rough Fell enthusiast Mr Nigel Davis, Agricultural Solicitor of Derbyshire & Burton-in-Kendal.
