Heifers to £2,500, 9 over £2,000

An excellent entry of dairy cattle sold to a competitive trade with a market average of £1898 achieved for all lots sold. Judging this month was in the capable hands of regular sale attendee Stuart Forshaw, Longridge who was presented with a superb line up of heifers. The championship rosette was awarded to the first prize halter led heifer from Drinkall Bros’ Pennine Dorothy 413, 3 weeks calved giving 31.6lts with five generations VG/EX, she sold for £2,100 and was purchased by the judge. Reserve was High Hopes Roy Tasty from Barber Farms, calving down at 2 years old and giving 31 lts she also sold to the judge for £2,000. A large crowd of buyers saw a top price of £2,500 for Kendalcragg Samuelo Eve 2 from P Knowles selling to WA Eccles. A further 8 heifer made over £2,000 with 4 over £2,200.
