ANNUAL SHOW & SALE OF ROUGH FELL RAMS

NWA held the annual sale of Rough Fell Rams on behalf of the Rough Fell Sheep Breeders Association on Saturday 13th October. The old market was buzzing throughout the day. A tremendous turn out at judging saw Stephen Chapman give champion honours to the first prize shearling ram from Paul Capstick, High Lane. This ram later topped the trade at 5,300 guineas. 21 rams sold for 1,000 guineas or more. Shearlings averaged £640 a rise of £97 on the year. Aged rams topped at 700 guineas from GM Capstick & Sons, Birkhaw. Ram lambs sold to 680 guineas from AM & R Capstick, High Lane. Prices achieved demonstrated the growing popularity of the breed accompanied by an enjoyable day had by all.

Many thanks to our sponsors today H Pigney & Son of Appleby.
