LANCASTER DAIRY CHAMPION SELLS FOR £2,900

A fantastic entry of 86 cattle attracted a large crowd of buyers from as far a field as Dumfries, Wrexham & Shropshire as well as strong local support.  

Judging this month was conducted by Mr Graham Young, Samlesbury who had a strong show of cattle presented before him in each of the five classes.   Champion of the day was awarded to AR & J Whitlow, Preesall who were showing Arnot Freda 197 (VG86) being 3 weeks calved giving 42 litres she sold after spirited bidding for the days top price of £2900 to Mr A Greenhalgh.   Reserve champion was Cockerhouse Kate 33 from WN & D Smith & Sons, Cockerham, being 2 weeks calved and giving 34.3 litres she sold for £2350 to Mr A Greenhalgh.

A feature of this sale was an entry of 18 bulling heifers from M Shepherd & Sons, Pilling which were all easily sold to a top price of £1250 with 18 averaging £998.
