Stock returning home or to another holding will then subject that holding to a 6-day standstill. Lancaster Auction will now also operate as a 'Green' market to allow customers to return stock to home or another holding. Stock entering the markets must not be from a holding which has received stock in the previous six days.

AUCTION MARTS GET EMERGENCY DEFIBRILLATOR UNITS
Staff at Kendal and Lancaster Auction Marts have been trained in the emergency use of AED units. The units have been supplied by the local ambulance service and are funded by the National Lottery and British Heart Foundation. Staff at both sites attended training sessions in the use of the AED's and administration of CPR. These units will only shock a patient in suspected cardiac arrest (VF) cases if necessary, they cannot shock a patient with any form of regular or irregular pulse and are designed to give a patient the best possible chance of survival when suffering a cardiac arrest. 3000 of these AED units are being installed around the country in places where people gather, such as shopping centres, town halls, auction marts and gyms.

PLANNING APPLICATION APPROVED FOR KENDAL AUCTION
Planners have approved the application for a residential development on the whole of the Auction Mart site on Appleby Road, Kendal, subject to a small number of conditions to be approved by the SLDC Officers.
The development put forward with Miller Homes will eventually see 107 homes built on the 4-acre site, 50% of which will be affordable, once the Auction Mart has moved to a new, improved site (see Gateway below).
SUPPORT FOR GATEWAY PROJECT GROWS
As the ambitious plans for the development of the site of the Westmorland County Show and adjacent land into a combined Rural Resource Centre and a Showfield Centre go to South Lakeland District Council for approval, many organisations - including Cumbria Tourist Board, English Nature and British Waterways - have given their support and advice to the Steering Group.
Gateway will provide a desperately-needed boost for the local economy, particularly tourism and agriculture, as well as a new, state-of-the-art home for the Kendal Auction Mart and Salerooms. When not in use as a livestock auction mart, the pennage will be removed to provide an indoor exhibition and sports venue for local, regional and national events. It will also make room for affordable housing in the centre of Kendal, on the site of the Kendal mart.
If you would like more information about the South Lakeland Gateway Project and its progress, please email us.
